31 Days of Thrifty Finds-Day 2: Our VERA WANG Comforter Set

I've been going back and forth trying to decide whether or not to blog about our latest purchase which is a new King Comforter Set for our Master bedroom.
I've been on the fence about it because I'm normally oh so cheap ahem-thrifty yet this purchase was a bit more than the norm.  Hubby and I have been wanting a new look for our bedroom, but we aren't ready to paint and really don't want to deviate too far from the colors that we currently have in our room-greens, browns and white.

I had Kohl's Cash that's been burning a hole in my pocket for the past week or so and I had to use it by this weekend-or I'd lose it. I've gone into the store three times racking my brain trying to figure out what to spend it on and then it hit me-we could use it to get something nice for our space!!

Here it is-so, so pretty!!

Ran across this oh so lovely VERA WANG Dune Comforter Set, but at $339 I just thought it was way too outrageous of a purchase. Most of the sets were on sale for 30% off, but even at that price-it was way to steep for my thriftyness!!

I had a hunch that this particular set was discontinued, so I held on tight and even used the Price Check to see how much it was. Of course, the scanner kept giving me a price that was way more than the listed price. After much ado, I headed to Customer Service to see if they could help me out and help me out she did-the set was indeed discontinued and it was marked down to $118.99.

I'm a proud Kohls charge carrier and had a 20% off coupon, plus $20 in Kohls Cash, plus a $10 Kohls birthday coupon AND another $10 Discover Indy coupon so my total for this gorgeous bedding set was just under $65.



Love the way our new comforter set looks! It's a bit wrinkly-but the colors match our decor perfectly!

 

Another view-I'd love to grab some of the coordinating pillows too! For now-we're using our pillows from the Vera Wang Signature Key Collection.

Now that's thrifty!!!!
